Tuesday, 9.30 p.m. in the heart of Fitzroy. The bass from the bar right behind our terrace is hammering, Fietje doesn’t care and is sleeping like a baby ;).
After two cloudy and rainy days, today, we had a very pretty day full of sunshine. After a couple of excellent espressos and a fabulous breakfast at the café next door we got on the tram down to St. Kilda. While Fietje was taking a nap in his stroller, we went for a walk at the Esplanade. Although the beach isn’t as nice as the beaches in Sydney and at the Gold Coast, St. Kilda seems to be a pretty nice suburb. It reminded us a bit of Coogee or Manly where we spent some time right before Christmas.
Being back in Fitzroy this afternoon, we had a great time with our new friends Elisa, Giovanni and David. Thanks to Airbnb we got to know these people online, spent New Year’s Eve in their apartment and, finally, got the chance to meet them personally. As we have already mentioned in our last post, it’s all about the people – and the weather. While everything looks so much nicer when the sun is shining, a big city is a lot more enjoyable when one knows nice people living there. And since Fitzroy reminds us of our pocket in Hamburg, we enjoy our time here a lot so that, again, we decided to stay a bit longer than originally planned.
Additionally, we got more tips concerning nice spots we should visit – in Melbourne and even New Zealand so that it won’t ever get boring on our trip. So for tomorrow, we are planning to go to Abbotsford. Thanks to all these nice people in Australia who are always willing to help.
Have a good night everyone <3
